It has been an exciting time to make a living with a New York real estate license. Sales numbers and home values are improving all over the state. Having worked so hard to earn your New York real estate license and start a successful real estate career, you will want to do whatever it takes to be at the top of your game now that the market is poised for its rebound. One thing you must do to maintain an active New York real estate license is to meet your continuing education requirements.
In keeping with the Green Initiative, the New York State Department of Licensing no longer mails letters to licensees to remind them of the upcoming expiration date of their real estate licenses. Instead, there will be only a postcard mailed to the business address on record, and an email sent to the email address listed for you with the Department of Licensing.
Two years can pass rather quickly in the career of a busy New York real estate agent. Before you know it your renewal date will be upon you. It is important that you are aware of your real estate license expiration date to avoid you license becoming inactive. The New York State Department of Licensing requires that real estate licenses be renewed every two years on the anniversary date of the date the license was issued. All renewal requirements must be metprior to the expiration date of your New York real estate license to maintain an active status.
To maintain an active New York real estate license you will be required to attend 22.5 hours of continuing education in the two years between renewal periods. The course subjects chosen must be real estate related and contain at least three hours of real estate training on fair housing and/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property. The remaining 19.5 hours of real estate courses are entirely up to you. You will need proof of the completion of the continuing education requirements from a qualified real estate school submitted along with the fee and renewal application.
New York Department of Licensing offers a number of services online, and license renewal is one of them. The lengthy process of filling in an application and sending it through the mail and then waiting even longer for the license is much more convenient now that the process can be completed entirely online. The eAccessNY link is on the New York State Department of Licensing website. Once you have a login and password you can simply login, click on license renewals, and fill out the application. If the continuing education requirements have been met and the application for renewal is accepted, you should receive your renewed license and Photo ID in the mail within two to three weeks.
Do not let anything stand in the way of the success of your career with your New York real estate license. Get your New York real estate license continuing education and keep your license current online. Also remember, real estate school can help you fulfill your dreams!
