Great News for Nevada Real Estate Brokers

If you are a broker with a Nevada real estate license in need of renewal in July or August, you can take advantage of a new online feature. The Nevada Office of Business and Industry announced early this week that Nevada real estate brokers will be the first to have access to online renewal services now available on the Nevada Real Estate Division website.

As long as the license is active and it is within 45 days of the expiration date, you will qualify for the convenient new service. You will have to provide proof of completion of the real estate courses needed to meet the continuing education requirements for a real estate broker as they do with the previous renewal options; but now they can complete the renewal process online 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The renewal application fee can also be paid online. In the months to come the Real Estate Division expects to release more online renewal services for other licenses such as broker salesperson and salesperson.  They hope to expand the online services available for licensees even further before the year ends.

The first renewal for a Nevada real estate license requires 30 hours of continuing education for a real estate broker. The first 15 hours includes five courses, three hours each on Ethics, Law and Legislation, Agency, Contracts and Broker Management. The remaining 15 hours are your choice of approved general courses. After the first renewal the continuing education requirement calls for 24 hours of real estate courses every two years; the same list of courses included in the first 15 hours with only nine additional hours of general elective courses required. The fee to renew a Nevada real estate license remains $180.00 for a real estate salesperson and $220.00 for a real estate broker for the first and subsequent renewals.

Online services make maintaining your license incredibly convenient, not to mention the time they will save in the license renewal process. The Real Estate Division anticipates that approximately 3600 Nevada broker licensees will take advantage of the initial release of online services. A broker whose license has expired or is in an inactive status will not be permitted to use the online renewal service at this time. To return a license to active status you will still have to send in the required application and fees to the Real Estate Division.
