Snapshot - Outline
This 3-hour Washington continuing
education core course will cover the topics of Washington Law and Regulations,
Agency, Environmental Issues, and Fair Housing. This will include a review and
update of Washington laws and regulations, up-to-date agency topics, Fair
Housing laws and regulations, and timely environmental hazard topics. The
course contains seven user-friendly units:
1. Introduction and Review of Washington Laws and Regulations
2. Handling Other's Funds and Licensee Disciplinary Actions
3. Agency, Dual Agency, and Related Topics
4. Lead-Based Paint, Disclosures, and Other Environmental Issues
5. More Environmental Issues
6. Fair Housing Review and Violations
7. The Federal Fair Housing Act and the Washington Law Against Discrimination
Course Objectives
· Review the Uniform Regulation of Business and Professions Act
· Discuss the Revised Code of Washington and the Washington
Administrative Code
· Learn about the latest regulatory changes in enforcement of the
license law
· Review the types of licenses, license renewal, and license expiration
· Review the ways in which an agency relationship is created
· Review the different types of agents, and the duties an agent has to
his principal
· Understand dual agency
· Discover what an agent owes third-party customers
· Study timely environmental issues, including "brownfields,"
asbestos, and toxic mold
· Learn the history, warning signs, and dangers of lead-based paint, as
well as what can be done to deal with it
· Learn about underground storage tanks and the Washington Department of
Ecology's involvement with this issue
· Study the Federal Fair Housing Act and its history
· Review Fair Housing laws and regulations, and the penalties for
breaking these laws
· Understand the ways to avoid being perceived as discriminating
· Review the correct, Fair Housing-friendly ways to advertise
· Review the regulations for usage of the Fair Housing Logo
· Review the Washington Law Against Discrimination Act and its
regulations
· Learn the penalties to pay for violating the Washington Law Against
Discrimination Act
